Quantum phase transitions have attracted a great deal of interest in the study of condensed matter physics. Normally, this refers to continuous transitions that occur at T=0, where the correlation length and time scales diverge, and universal scaling is observed close to the Quantum Critical Point (QCP). Here I will talk about the search for quantum criticality in magnetic compounds: YFe2Al10 and Yb2Pt2Pb. In the transition metal YFe2Al10, strong divergence in magnetic susceptibility and magnetic specific heat was observed. Universal scaling was found in the magnetic susceptibility and specific heat. One the other hand, Yb2Pt2Pb is a one dimensional quantum magnet and spinons like excitations were observed in neutron scattering experiments.

吴留锁与2002年至06与中国科技大学材料系获得本科学位。 2006至2013年于纽约州立大学石溪分校取得博士学位。博士期间加入Meigan Aronson教授课题组,主要侧重于稀土磁性材料(包括重费米子等材料)中的量子相变及临界行为研究。 2013年至2015年,作为博士后身份,继续在Meigan Aronson教授课题组,延续博士课题的工作。期间,与布鲁克海文国家实验室I. Zaliznyak博士及A. Tsvelik 教授合作,主要侧重于一维稀土磁性材料中的中子散射测量。 2015年,加入橡树岭国家实验室散裂中子源Mark Lumsden课题组并与A. Christianson, 及 A. Podlesnyak博士合作,主要从事低温磁场以及压力等极端条件下的弹性及非弹性中子散射测量,主要仍然集中与重费米子及低维的量子磁性材料的调控与表征。
