报告介绍 | 报告摘要:
The discovery of topological insulators has created a revolution in condensed matter physics and materials science that has far ranging implications over coming decades. I will first introduce a simple way to understand the essential ideas of topological insulators: band inversion and symmetry protection. I will then generalize the ideas to experimentally feasible superconducting systems with time-reversal symmetry. When such a one-dimensional system becomes topological nontrivial, a Majorana Kramers pair appears on the boundary, producing tabletop supersymmetry, high critical temperature, quantized tunneling conductance plateaus, and unprecedented fractional Josephson effects. The latter effects have two significant implications: (i) the existence of a "periodic building" beyond Kitaev table unifying all the free-fermion topological systems and (ii) the realization of fractionalization in interacting superconductors. |
