Abstract:
  The oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) is one of the main reasons for the regional high ozone and PM2.5 concentrations in the atmosphere. Peroxy radicals (RO2) are important radical intermediates in the atmospheric oxidation of VOCs. It is usually assumed that the peroxy radicals will react with NOx and HO2/RO2 radicals. However, our recent preliminary studies find that the intramolecular H-migration might play important roles in the atmospheric oxidation of a few VOCs, including dimethyl sulfide, ethers, and aromatic compounds. Calculations show that the H-migrations may be fast enough to compete with the bimolecular reactions.
