报告介绍 | 报告摘要:
Quantum Hall liquid is the first definitive example of a state of matter which does not break any symmetry, and exhibits "topological order". In this talk I will give a elementary introduction of this fascinating state of matter including the theoretical frameworks we use to understand it.
报告人简介:
Professor Dung-Hai Lee received his B.S. degree from the National Tsinghua University of Taiwan. He went to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1977 for graduate studies, and received his Ph.D. in physics in 1982. After staying at M.I.T. for another two years, he joined the IBM T.J. Watson Research Center in 1984, where he remained as a Research Staff Member until 1994. Since 1994, he has been a professor in the Physics Department of the University of California, Berkeley. Professor Lee’s main research interest is in strongly correlated many-particle systems. He has contributed to the fields of magnetism, superconductivity, the study of quantum Hall systems, and classical and quantum phase transitions. His current interest is in the physics of novel superconductors and topological states in condensed matter systems. |
