Pressure is a popular “extreme” condition in the Universe in that most of entity materials such as the planets are at high pressures. High pressure plays significant role in shaping quantum states of emergent phenomena since pressure can modify spin, charge or orbital states of given compound, while pressure in combination with temperature opens up new avenues toward quantum materials by design that are unexpected at ambient conditions. I will introduce in this lecture our recent works on quantum functional compounds involved with high pressures by focusing on iron based superconductors, diluted magnetic semiconductors, topological insulators etc.
