Computer simulations are used to study the unusual structure and dynamics of liquid/solid water at molecular scale. As an introduction, I calculate prototype water structures on metal surface. This study is further extended to silica surface, where a two-dimensional tessellation ice is observed. The new configuration is stable up to room temperature, because all the water molecules are fully saturated with H bonds either to each other or to the surface hydroxyl groups. Furthermore, an order parameter which defines the surface energy of ice Ih surfaces is identified to understand proton ordering at ice surface. It is predicted that the proton order-disorder transition, which occurs in the bulk at ~72 K, will not happen at the surface at any temperature. Finally, I will report recent research on ice surface premelting.
报告人简介：
王恩哥，北京大学教授，中国科学院院士，第三世界科学院院士，1990年在北京大学物理系获博士学位。主要从事凝聚态物理研究，在纳米新材料探索及其物理特性、原子尺度上的表面生长动力学以及受限条件下水的复杂形态等方面做出了有重要影响的工作。2002-2005年任国际纯粹与应用物理联合会(IUPAP)专业委员会副主任。所获奖项包括国家自然科学二等奖两次(2004和2011)、亚洲计算材料科学成就奖(2011)、何梁何利科技进步奖(2010)、第三世界科学院物理奖(2005)、德国洪堡研究奖(2005)、周培源物理奖(2005)、中国科学院杰出成就奖(2005)、世界华人物理学会“亚洲成就奖”(2003)、香港“求是”青年学者奖(1996)、国家杰出青年基金获得者(1995)、中国科学院首批“百人计划”学者(1994)等。 |
